Instead - let’s talk about love!A Star Without A Name (Steaua Fără Nume) by Mihail Sebastian is a melodramatic tragicomedy that was adapted and translated into English by Ilya Eckstein. Written in 1942 in Romania, it quickly became a hit on theater stages across Europe. Produced by PM Theater, the play premiered in New York City at the famed Theatre at St. Clement's in November of 2023.

Gera Sandler, an award winning actor and director, featured on Netflix’s Unorthodox and Transatlantic, directs.The setting of the play is a provincial town in Romanian countryside, situated along the popular train route from Bucharest to Sinaia. By sheer chance, an express train that usually flies by without so much as slowing down, makes a quick stop at the town's only train station, leaving behind a sole passenger: a mysterious young redhead. Her beauty strikes right through the heart of a simple school teacher, who's fascinated by stars and astronomy.
Will their improbable love survive past its cosmic conception or will it combust like so many nameless stars in the sky?Performed in memoriam of Ilya Eckstein, who adapted the English translation, A Star Without A Name features scenic design by Jenya Shekhter, sound design and live music performance by Masha Vasilevskaya, and costume design by Luna Gomberg. Tatyana Kot choreographs the complex and imaginative stage movement of the piece, while PM Theater's Anna Bredikhina serves as the show’s administrative producer. The production brings back the company’s original ensemble members in the faces of Anya Zicer, who leads the cast as the mysterious Mona. A star company member of New York’s Krymov Lab, Zicer recently delighted audiences in Onegin as Inna Natanovna and in Love Stories as Shlomo. Also returning are Dima Koan, Sergey Nagorny, and Carlo Maria Velardi. With A Star Without A Name, PM Theater also introduced equally brilliant new actors to New York City audiences. Stephen Ochsner, an international award winning sensation, the lead of critically acclaimed TV Series Chicks, stars as Teacher, an enigmatic male lead of the piece. Ronit Asheri-Sandler, the star of Netflix’s Unorthodox and Transatlantic, dazzles as Mademoiselle Cucu, an all-knowing old dame, who refuses to age. Pavel Shatu and Devonn Duffin round out the cast as the rational Grig and curious Zamfirescu, respectively.
